FAQ
Straight answers.
The questions business owners ask us most. If yours isn’t here, ask it.
Is this only for big companies?
No. That used to be true. Now a small business can afford software built for it, start small, and add to it as it grows.
How much does custom software cost for a small business?
Many projects fall between $15,000 and $30,000. It depends on what you need. We price each project after a first call, once we know what it needs. Where we can, it’s one price for the project, not an hourly meter.
Should we buy off-the-shelf software or have it built?
If an off-the-shelf product fits how you work, buy it. Build when you’re paying for five tools that don’t talk to each other, re-typing the same thing twice, or bending how you work to fit software that wasn’t made for you.
What kind of software do you build?
Software a business runs on: job tracking, scheduling and dispatch, orders and inventory, customer portals, quotes and invoicing, and dashboards that show where things stand. Usually it replaces a pile of spreadsheets, paper and tools that don’t connect.
How soon will we see something?
Usually two or three weeks after you sign off on the plan, sometimes one. Bigger projects take longer, but we’re talking weeks, not months.
Do you use AI to build it?
Yes, and we built this site with it. In an experienced developer’s hands, AI makes the work faster and the price lower. Every piece is still designed, checked and tested by us, and your data is never shown to AI while we build.
Do we own the software?
Yes. The code is yours, and anyone you choose can work on it. If someone else changes it, we can’t be responsible for those changes, but nothing stops you.
Where is it hosted, and who looks after it?
In your own hosting account, which you pay for directly. We set it up, and if you’d like us to keep looking after it, we do that for a fee.
What if we need changes later?
Software built this way is cheap to change. We take changes on as a new project, or on a retainer if you’d rather have us on call.
What if you’re unavailable?
You’re never stuck. The code and the hosting are in your name, so any developer can pick it up.
Is our data secure?
Your data is yours. AI never sees it while we build. If we add AI agents later, each one sees only what we deliberately give it access to.
Can you add AI to the software we already use?
Often, yes, if it has a way to connect (an API). AI can read purchase orders and enter them, sort email, draft quotes, or answer customer questions on your website. Each step gets checked, and it only sees what we give it access to.
Where are you based?
Based in New Jersey, serving businesses across the US. Wherever you are in the US, we can work with you.
How do we get started?
Tell us what’s slowing you down, in your own words, on the start page. We reply within 1–2 business days, then set up a short call to see if we’re a fit.
Can it connect to the tools we already use?
Yes. QuickBooks, email, and pretty much anything that offers a way to connect (an API).
Tell us what’s slowing you down.
Describe it in your own words. We read every one and reply within 1–2 business days.
