Can AI build your business software? What changes when a developer uses it

The short answer

Yes, we use AI to build software. We built this site with it. In an experienced developer’s hands, AI makes the work faster and the price lower. Without one, it’s still fast at first, but most projects stall before they’re finished, and what does get built is fragile.

Of course we use AI

AI writes a large share of our code, and this website is no exception. We don’t hide it, because it’s the reason a business your size can now afford software built for it. Work that took months takes weeks, and the price drops with it.

What AI doesn’t do is decide. Someone still has to know how the software should be put together, check every piece it writes, and catch the mistakes it makes with complete confidence. That’s the part experience pays for.

Why experience still decides the result

AI is quick to write code that looks right. Knowing whether it is right takes someone who has built and run real systems. An experienced developer uses AI to type faster, and spends the time saved on the parts that matter:

  • How the data is laid out, so the software can grow without being rebuilt.
  • Security: who can see what, and making sure nobody sees what they shouldn’t.
  • Testing, so a change on Tuesday doesn’t quietly break something that worked on Monday.
  • Hosting, backups, and what happens when something goes wrong at 2 a.m.

What happens without a developer

With AI tools, someone who isn’t a developer can get a demo running in a weekend, and it’s impressive. The trouble starts after. Each fix breaks something else, nobody can tell why, and the last stretch, where it handles real data, real users and real mistakes, never gets done.

The projects that do make it to launch tend to be fragile: no tests, gaps in security, and code nobody can safely change. That costs far more to fix later than it would have cost to build properly.

AI tools are worth trying for a quick internal tool or a prototype to show what you mean. For software the business runs on, have someone who knows what they’re looking at.

What it means for you

Faster delivery and a lower price, without giving up the things that make software last. You get working software in weeks, the code is yours, and it’s built to be changed as your business changes.
